As a member of the local curling team, we won the MCA Provincial Farmers Curling Championship two consecutive years running and in 1998 won the Provincial Royal Canadian Legion Championship, went to the National Dominion Championships in Halifax and was honoured to be selected “All-Star Second”.
A certified Level I Ice Making/Refrigeration Technician, I have been the Ice Maker at the Gladstone CC for the past 23 years. A Certified Level I Theory and Practical Coach, I have coached the local High School curling teams for the past 8 years and co-coached the Junior Men’s representing Gladstone in Zone play for the last 8 years.
Curling has always been a passion since I was in my early teens. A third generation ice maker , my grandfather (a life Member of the Manitoba Curling Association) started making ice in 1930, my father from the 50’s through to the late 70’s and I started in 1984 through to the present. More than just ice making, I find that my role includes membership recruitment, member and junior clinics, coaching and general public relations for our curling club.
A Past President, Royal Canadian Legion, Gladstone Branch, I am currently Sports Chair and I chair and run the monthly Texas Hold’em Tournaments. Chairperson of the Ministry and Personnel and Sessions Committees of the Gladstone United Church I am also Past President of the Gladstone Kinsmen Club and as well coach local High School sports including badminton and curling!
Other interests include golf, fishing, hunting, singing and travelling.
