Remembering Ron

Ronald Vaughan Belden
June 28, 1941 - September 15, 2010

It is with great sadness that Curling Québec receives news of the death of Mr. Ron Belden, longtime volunteer and active curling member.
Curling Québec wishes to convey its deepest sympathies to his family, friends and curling companions.

Ron will be sadly missed by the curling community in general and his 2009 team mates in particular.

Some photos here.

Ron's original biography

Hi I’m Ron Belden from Sherbrooke, Quebec.
A retired teacher, I curl out of the Lennoxville and North Hatley Curling Clubs and have past affiliation with the Baie d’Urfé, Sorel(QIT) and Border Curling Clubs.
A Past President of the Lennoxville CC, I am Co-Chair-Membership Committee and have coached junior boys and girls at the provincial level on a number of occasions.

A Past President and Junior Chairman of the Canadian Branch, RCCC, I have been a member of the Gordon International Committee since 2004 and President and Junior Chairman of the Estrie District for a number of years.
Competitively, I’ve been to the men’s provincials twice and the men’s senior provincials five times (once as a finalist) and chaired the Provincial Seniors in 2002 and 2003.
Organised the Estrie stop on the Scots Centenary Tour in 2003 and I played against them at Lennoxville.
Past President and Board of Directors of the Wales Non-Profit Seniors Home in Richmond, Quebec and served as Chairman of their Foundation in 2006 and 2007.
I enjoy golf, tennis, folk music, computer-bridge and strumming on the guitar and the old banjo!
